“Plants can talk to one another”

New research shows plants both emit and respond to sound, according to this article in Australian Geographic:

"I speak Plant."

The plants in the study made clicks identified to be in the frequency range of 220 Hz, or one octave below middle A.  Unfortunately, the article does not mention any recordings of these sounds.

Does this open up the possibility of plant music installations?  Or perhaps new sonic techniques in agricultural science?  We are excited to find out more about this budding subject.

Thanks, Dave, for finding this bit.
